I did. I wanted to be a real tough guy. A brooding bad-ass, you know? Unfortunately, the eye patch has fallen out of fashion, hoodies make me look fat, and holding a grudge is really, really hard. So for now I’m a writer and creative director, a husband and dad, and a few other things I’m not terribly good at.
If you want to read something I wrote and I don’t entirely hate, go here.
If you want to hire me to write for SNL or the Alan Brady Show or pretty much anything really, it’s mike@mikeishappy.com.
If you leave me now, you’ll take away the biggest part of me… Oooh wooo wooooo…
Happy is good. Besides, being miserable just isn’t fun and it makes everyone else uncomfortable.
Thanks for helping me find my way here. I just read through your first page of posts and found myself laughing out loud, thinking, “This guy is hysterical!”
A man after my own heart – great stuff. Thanks for liking goodpulp on Facebook and if you get a chance and are interested enough, check out the site. Thanks again for your support.
Is Mike happy or relatively happy? I love your post about wanting to be a pirate, don’t we all want to be badasses from time to time (though it’s too much trouble to actually BE one and besides that wouldn’t be nice). I always wanted to be a hard rock chick in black leather with heaps of fans going wild at my guitar solos (I can’t play guitar).
Great stuff man, I am pretty sure you are reading my blog right now, while I am reading yours. It isn’t like we need to get those bff necklaces or anything unless you want to.
Great blog this. I love love LOVE your sense of humor. And your honesty. OK, I love all of it.
KEEP ON DOING THE GOOD THING.
My husband gave me a pocket telescope for Christmas (yes, seriously) and my very first thought was. “Cool! Now I can be a pirate queen!!!”
It’s OK to be a pirate. If they don’t make you walk the plank. Thanks for stopping by and read my blog. Look forward to see what you do next.
I’m enjoying reading on your blog. Thank-you for following me, I am honored. Granny Gee
There are few things better than being a writer. Especially a good one – which you are, from what I’ve seen. I’ll be back.
Nice picture of you and your daughter.^_^ Anyway, love your simple and humurous writings.
Yo. Right on, pirate. My little people are just learning the English language, so they haven’t put any complex ideas together yet. Just alligators in the toilet and the fact that ‘mom is woman’ and dad is ‘could be man.’ Go figure. Thanks for sharing the hilarity.
Sounds like Mike is happy…and not Relatively….. but with his relatives (especially those little ones!) Love your blog! Congrats on being freshly pressed, Oh King of New England!
If I could be that funny – I wouldn’t bother. You’ve got it covered. Thank you for a great read!
I wanted to be a Laker Girl. I think I’m probably much happier with the simple path I’ve chosen instead. Keep up the good work!
I too would like to be a pirate, but instead I buy gemstones from pawn brokers and visit Cuba once a year.
I wanted to be a mermaid. Or a fairy. Or a princess. Or a fairy princess! As long as it was sparkly.
I wanted to be a rock star – preferably lead guitarist and vocalist. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to play the guitar, and the only one that enjoys hearing me sing (sometimes) is my 6-month-old daughter. C’est la vie – life is still pretty good
I wanted to be an assassin. Like the Naked Weapon type? But then I love life. Haha.
I’m glad you became a writer instead of a pirate; although, maybe you could still wear an eye patch while you type… until you got a headache from trying to only use one eye… so, maybe not. Okay, good luck on the writing path.
Anyway, I love your blog and am glad you found something that you enjoy. You are also bringing smiles to others and I wanted to recognize that by giving you a little award I made up to celebrate people who crack me up! Check here to find out more about the (non-cash, non-trophy, non-TV spot recognition, yet still highly coveted) award: http://twyste.com/2012/02/07/ha-ha-ha-no-really-theyre-that-funny/
Hi Mike,
I just nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you for your wonderful blog. It inspires me to be creative and weird and unapologetic about it. (= priceless)
Cheers!
Hey Mike. I know you just got Freshly Pressed and all but you’re still only relatively happy. I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award. Maybe that will put it over the top for you… Details in today’s post.

Hi Mike!
Pete Denton also nominated me for The Versatile Blogger award. I wanted to stop by your blog to say hello and offer my congratulations to you on your nomination!
It’s unfortunate that you couldn’t be what you wanted to be. But atleast as a writer you can create as many Pirate Characters as you want! The Pirate of the Caribbean was created by a writer like you.)
Hi! Just letting you know I have nominated you for the Blog on Fire Award.
